Emily Mushin (00:10): To me, being an ally in the workplace means being an advocate for your LGBTQ+ colleagues and friends by educating yourself, listening and being visible.
Davia Meltzer (00:23): To me, being an ally is creating space for colleagues to be who they are, to asking questions, it's raising my voice, it's wearing a rainbow during Pride Week.
Betsy Donovan (00:36): To me, being an ally means giving a voice and a platform to those who don't always feel like they have one, being an active listener and a strong advocate can really make a difference. Finally, sharing resources, my favourite is The Trevor Project and its mission is focused on suicide prevention which is very high in LGBT youth.
Duncan Miller (01:04): Until everyone at work can feel comfortable being themselves then we need to stand by all our colleagues.
Jasmine Lossouarn (01:10): For me it is best summarised by a Thai saying: “divided we fall, but united we succeed”.
Sharon Whitehouse (01:20): I think in 2021, it's not enough to say that issues of diversity should be indifferent to people's work. Everyone works much better when they are in an environment where they feel comfortable and feel themselves. As a firm, we're very much about celebrating individuality and for that reason I think it's really important that when people come to work they can be the person that they really are.
Michelle Graham (01:45): It's hard to believe that almost 30 years ago I attended my first Gay Pride parade. At the time I went I was there to see Bronski Beat one of my favourite bands and we had a great time. Over the last 30 years some of my friends and family have come out as gay and I have learned a lot from them. So now when I attend Gay Pride parades and celebrate the month of June it takes on a whole new meaning. Happy Gay Pride month!
Anthony Indaimo (02:11): We act for successful people across the US, Europe, and Asia. Each different an unique. It is therefore vital that internally as a firm, our diversity and inclusivity reflects the diverse clients that we seek to serve.
Jaya Louvre (02:32): Being an ally for me includes supporting my LGBTQ+ colleagues. In addition to that, I would like to encourage them to bring their whole selves to work and challenge any bias within the workplace. For me, Pride is a time to come together and celebrate and show our unity.
