Withers has hired IP partner Gina Bibby in its Los Angeles office. Gina joins Withers from a Los Angeles-based law firm, where she has built on her highly respected fashion technology practice advising start-ups, fashion brands and other companies on issues at the intersection of fashion and technology.
Gina advises fashion technology and other clients on protecting their innovations through patent, copyright and trademark intellectual property procurement, commercial agreements, and IP disputes. She is a registered patent attorney and has significant litigation and trial experience in a wide variety of complex intellectual property, unfair competition, false advertising and trade secret matters, including before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, International Trade Commission and various United States District courts.
With a background in computer science, Gina practiced for most of her career in the Silicon Valley offices of Am Law 100 firms before recently moving to Los Angeles to develop her fashion technology practice. Gina has studied at the Fashion Law Institute’s Intensive Program and Silicon Valley Fashion and Technology Program and collaborates with the New York Fashion Tech Lab's business development platform for female-led companies in fashion-tech.
Jeremy Wakeham, CEO of Withers' Business team, comments: "Gina is a unique and really exciting addition to our US team. Her practice fits perfectly with our focus on private capital, entrepreneurs, fashion and technology, and complements our teams actively working in these areas in the UK, Italy and Asia. Adding a California-based advisor into our network presents huge opportunities to work with clients across the world."
Michael Brophy, managing director of Withers’ LA office, adds: "Gina's innovative practice is a welcome addition to our IP capabilities in California, and we look forward to her fashion-tech expertise enriching our Los Angeles team. As client demand for skilled IP and tech advice continues to grow, we will continue to look at adding the best talent to the firm."
Gina says: "Withers has a great reputation for advising leading founders, investors and the operational businesses behind big brands around the world. The firm's international team of IP, corporate, employment and immigration advisors will help my clients to expand their businesses into new markets, while keeping their products and innovations secure."
