UK Employment Rights Bill

The Employment Rights Bill, published on 10 October 2024, sets out a remarkably wide range of proposals to amend UK employment law, in some cases very significantly. As an employer, how might you be affected and what actions can you take now to prepare for change?

The UK's Labour Government was elected on a platform promising extensive changes to the laws around employee rights and employer obligations. These changes were announced in the new Employment Rights Bill.

It is clear that this is going to be the most significant alteration of employment rights that the UK has seen for a significant period of time and any organization employing people in the UK will be impacted. We can help you, as an employer, navigate these key changes consider next steps once legislation passes.

Whilst we anticipate that most changes will likely come into effect in October 2026, employers can start considering the impact and begin to adapt your employment practices accordingly to ensure the best outcomes for you, your employees and your organisation.

To help you prepare, we are monitoring what is happening as the Bill is subject to consultation and debate in Parliament and we will provide regular updates as some of the regulations start to emerge. We would encourage you to review your current employment policies and to get in touch so we can advise on your options to the extent possible at this stage.
