Annabel was with the firm for many years and was an anchor in Withers KhattarWong, making a special contribution to the firm's sports practice.
She is well-loved and well-respected by all of us. Despite her congenital heart condition, Annabel was an outstanding athlete playing hockey for Singapore in her youth. Unfortunately, her heart weakened and deteriorated recently. Despite her heart condition, she continued to be friendly, outgoing and fully engaged in her numerous appointments and responsibilities, so that her passing came as a shock to many.
She has been an illustrious member of the Singapore and international sports community. She was Singapore’s Chef de Mission at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India and at other major multi-sport games. In recognition of her achievements, she also earned the prestigious Asian “Women in Sport” trophy from the IOC in 2004. Her passing is a loss to Singapore and our firm.
I would also like to share Singapore's Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong's tribute to Annabel, which you can click here to read more.
Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this time of grief.
