Webinar | London | Employment masterclass: what does the new Employment Rights Bill mean for you?
12 November 2024
12:00 - 13:00 GMT | ZOOM WEBINARThe UK's new Labour Government has made good its promise to produce draft legislation on employment rights within 100 days of taking office. The Employment Rights Bill, published on 10 October 2024, sets out a remarkably wide range of proposals to amend UK employment law, in some cases very significantly. It is clear, for example, that the Government intends to remove the need for a qualifying period in unfair dismissal cases, subject to arrangements for probationary periods.
Our expert panel will consider various proposals in the Bill focusing on unfair dismissal, the measures and the consultation paper on collective redundancy and 'fire and rehire', the consultation paper on statutory sick pay, the implications for UK employers of statutory access to the workplace by trade unions as well as recap some other expected changes, e.g., to flexible working, zero hours contracts and to protection from third party harassment ahead of further detail being provided in due course.
Members of our employment team, Hugh More, Libby Payne, Melissa Paz, Alexandra Thompson and Christina Morton, will look at how the proposals might evolve during the consultation process, how you as an employer might be affected and what you can do in advance to prepare for change.
