International law firm Withers has added highly rated privacy and data protection attorney Doron Goldstein to its New York team. Doron joins as a partner from Katten Muchin Rosenman, where he co-headed the Privacy, Data and Cybersecurity practice.
Named a “Cybersecurity Trailblazer” by the National Law Journal, Doron was also in the first group of lawyers to be certified as a Privacy Law Specialist by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), accredited by the American Bar Association.
Doron’s practice involves guiding clients through the full range of privacy, data and cybersecurity issues, including responding to ransomware attacks, dealing with security breaches, and developing privacy and cybersecurity programs and processes to reduce the likelihood, and mitigate the severity, of those of incidents. He advises clients on U.S. federal, state, and local privacy and data protection laws, as well as various international privacy laws and data protection frameworks.

As we all know, data is used across more and more complex technologies, and this creates significant new areas of risk. Regulatory attempts to limit that risk struggle to keep up with the rate of technological development, and with the methods used by bad actors. In the US this is a fast-changing landscape and bringing on someone with Doron’s depth of knowledge is a huge plus for us.”
Doron holds several privacy certifications, including Certified Information Privacy Professional for both the US and Europe and Certified Information Privacy Manager, and he is an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy. Before qualifying as an attorney, Doron also worked as a software developer, network administrator and managing partner of an internet advertising company, providing him with ground-level, practical experience of his clients’ technologies, systems and problems.

Doron will complement and work with our teams in Europe, Asia and with our IP and data specialists in California. Data protection and privacy legislation disproportionately impacts our clients, including luxury brands, charities, sports, hotels and hospitality, investment funds and tech.”
